Cançó del lladre or The Song of the Thief is one of my favorite guitar pieces. Masterfully arranged by Miguel Llobet, this is a traditional Catalonian song that tells of a remorseful scoundrel who sings of his woes from a jail cell the night before his execution.

Illuminated by moonlight and casting a foreboding shadow, the rope makes real the weight of his bad choices. There is nothing left for him but to greet his fate with peaceful acceptance.
