Most of our belts are made with Chicago screw fasteners. These allow you to easily remove our hardware to change up the look of your belt. Please check the belts product description to confirm the belt you are ordering is made with Chicago screws.
You will need a T 15 Star tool or a flathead screwdriver to remove the screws. On the back side of the belt, locate the two screws by the buckle and keeper. Simply put your star bit tool inside the center of the screw to loosen it up and remove it. If you do not have a star bit tool, use a large flathead screwdriver instead. You can now remove the buckle and add your own. The keeper is also removable if you want to add a decorative or metal keeper to your belt. Simply reverse the process to put your belt back together.
Please note, we torque the screws down before shipping to ensure they do not work loose over time. We recommend periodically checking your screws for tightness or gluing them together for a more permanent hold. You can use any metal glue such as Super Glue, Loctite, or even clear fingernail polish. A little drop on the threads is all you need. This helps keep vibrations from working the screws loose.
If you have any difficulties removing the screws, please use our tape trick. Take a piece of sticky tape and wrap it around your index finger with the sticky side facing out. This will allow you to grip the smooth side of the screw while you break it free.
