Today, the Premier announced ADCO Construction as the contractor tasked to transform AGWA’s rooftop into an exciting multi-use gallery space and rooftop venue for Western Australia.

Designed by Perth-based firm TAG Architects and Sydney firm fjmt, the redevelopment project “Elevate” will be the largest rooftop venue in Perth accommodating up to 500 people. It includes an open-air sculpture park featuring works from the State Art Collection, a new internal gallery, sky bridge and external lift.

The centrepiece of the rooftop is a 34-metre-long artwork, by leading Noongar artist Christopher Pease which will wrap around one-third of the rooftop wall. This work will be the largest Aboriginal art commission in the Gallery’s history and will be part of the State Art Collection.

We can’t wait for you to join us when the rooftop opens!
