The Ace Ratchet Collar provides a cost-effective solution in tight-tolerance wells, this was demonstrated in a project in the Gulf of Mexico for a major operator.
A 9-7/8” casing string was needed to run through both a 13-3/8” casing and an 11-7/8” liner. A reliable slim stop collar was required to prevent the case accessories from slipping and collecting above the liner during run-in-(hole). Holding the centralizers in place while cementing was also paramount to deliver the calculated and simulated stand-off.
The ARC was chosen as the solution to resist centralizer movement, with thirty ARCs and centralizers installed offline in advance. The liner was shipped to the rig, then run in the hole through both the parent casing and the 11-7/8” liner to a total depth of over 4300m and 20° inclination. The casing annulus was circulated clean and cement was pumped.
This installation in 2016 was the first installation for this client and the first for Ace in the region. Following this project we provided installations on two strings for the next well and have completed over 20 projects for clients in the USA.
